Summer Updates
Hi hello hi!! okay i’m returning to the standard version of this newsletter in which I just update you on my life….BUT my podcast is still going strong, and I will drop another long essay in the next few months. So stay tuned! Or tune that out. I don’t know what you like. Be free!!
I’ve been so busy, in a very fun way. I’m in Edinburgh right now doing the Fringe, and thank you so everyone who’s come out! The shows have been great, and I’ve gotten some good reviews & was in The Guardian’s list of best jokes. For the sake of full transparency, I’ve also gotten some bad/mediocre reviews and was excluded from other publications’ lists of best jokes. Wow. I’m so brave for saying that.
After Edinburgh, I’m going to the Scottish highlands, and I intend to spend many hours staring at a fuzzy cow. Send me recs for places to visit.
Overall, I’m feeling really solid about my stand up hour. So much so that I’ve decided to film it. The taping is in NYC October 13th. If you can’t be there but want an early version of the special OR if you want me to edit any of your writing OR if you just want to help me out (filming a special is oddly expensive, especially since my original idea of “use my iphone” was panned by my director), I’ve started an Indiegogo. Even very small donations go a long way. Actually, no they don’t—I don’t know why people always say that. They go a small way. But a bunch of small ways added together creates a long way, I guess. Anyway.
In terms of other writing, I’ve got a new piece out in Betches about Trump punishments, a new piece in the New Yorker about my favorite NYT column, and many more installments of my politics newsletter I Hope You Missed It. And I have a new very short humor book out in October—Sex for Lazy People. It’s the book my boyfriend very rudely said I was “extremely” qualified to write.
I think that’s it for now!! Please enjoy this precious photo of my niece & cat. Ugh I miss him so much. And her.
Hope you’re all finding a way to relax and stay relatively cool this summer. Thanks as always for being here.
xoxo
